With a population just shy of 10 million, Haiti is the poorest nation of the Americas. A magnitude 7.0 earthquake in January 2010 devastated the region and ravaged local economies. Port-au-Prince- Haiti's capital and largest city- has yet to recover.

Despite the devastation, young Life (Jenn Vi) continues to thrive in Port-au-Prince, as well as 10 other communities. The earthquake has caused leaders to step back and adapt. Damage to universities displaced some of Young Life's student leaders, but most ministry efforts have successfully regrouped.

Chedrick and Lisberthe Canéus have become a lifeline to their local community in Port-au-Prince. In the aftermath of the earthquake, their home became a rallying point. Their love for kids and their country casts rays of hope over a dark season. Disaster has failed to deter Young Life's pursuit of Haitian kids. Today, more leaders and more kids take part in even more clubs than before the earthquake.
